Mercy Ships Canada funded the Hospital Chaplaincy Program during Mercy Ships 2016 field service in Benin. Hospital Chaplaincy provides holistic care to patients by focusing on their spiritual, psychological, social, emotional and physical needs.
Our Work
The Hospital Chaplaincy Team facilitates the following for patients onboard the hospital ships, and at the HOPE Centre:
- Counseling sessions for patients and their caregivers to address spiritual, emotional, psychological, and social issues
- Spirituality enriching opportunities such as worship service and meditation time
- Mind-stimulating activities such as play therapy, arts, and crafts activities
