\r\n\r\nDepuis le d\u00e9but de la COVID, peu de visiteurs viennent dans notre bureau de Victoria, en Colombie Britannique. Pourtant, une semaine avant No\u00ebl, alors que l\u2019\u00e9quipe de Mercy Ships Canada s\u2019affairait \u00e0 ses t\u00e2ches, la porte d\u2019entr\u00e9e s\u2019est soudainement ouverte et une sympathique jeune fille est entr\u00e9e, Julie Van Domselaar et sa m\u00e8re, Christine !<\/p>\r\n
Julie reached out to one of our staff members with an envelope in her hand and said, “Here is a donation to help people in Africa; I saved up my money from dog sitting and would like to share it with Mercy Ships Canada.”<\/p>\r\n
Julie went on to say “I chose Mercy Ships because they help those in need and because 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 tells us to be cheerful givers.”<\/p>\r\n
Dans un petit bureau \u00e0 aire ouverte, les autres membres de l\u2019\u00e9quipe n\u2019ont pas pu s\u2019emp\u00eacher de se lever pour voir cette jeune personne remarquable dont le leadership philanthropique l\u2019a amen\u00e9e \u00e0 faire don de son argent durement gagn\u00e9 et l\u2019offrir \u00e0 des personnes en grand besoin d\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des chirurgies.<\/p>\r\n
Mercy Ships Canada staff were touched to receive Julie’s donation at a time when many young people may be tempted to focus on the gifts they would be receiving at Christmas. Yet, during such an inspirational moment, you could feel the generous heart of a cheerful giver, which reminds us all there are many ways we can follow the 2000-year-old model of Jesus.<\/p>\r\n
Mercy Ships Canada staff have reflected on this young leader’s poise, grace and authentic act of generosity that entrusted us to help solve the global surgical crises one patient at a time.<\/p>\r\n
As we enter 2023, Julie’s leadership serves as a beacon of philanthropic generosity that helps advance the cause of health justice. It demonstrates that every action can bring hope and healing to people who cannot afford or do not have access to surgeries or other medical procedures.<\/p>\r\n
