Il souligne le besoin pressant de rem\u00e9dier aux disparit\u00e9s en mati\u00e8re de soins de sant\u00e9, en particulier l\u2019importance cruciale d\u2019un acc\u00e8s \u00e9quitable \u00e0 des interventions chirurgicales de qualit\u00e9.<\/p>\r\n<p>The spectrum of surgical needs in Sierra Leone is broad, encompassing basic obstetric procedures, trauma surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, and more. The demand for surgical services is high, and timely access to interventions is often critical. Currently, our surgical capability at the surgeon&#8217;s level is limited, with only 15 residents, six general surgeons, two orthopedic surgeons, and two urology surgeons serving a population of eight million people.<\/p>\r\n<p>L\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des soins chirurgicaux s\u00fbrs est une n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 fondamentale. Nous sommes convaincus que chaque individu a le droit de vivre dignement et nous sommes d\u00e9termin\u00e9s \u00e0 faire respecter ce principe en fournissant des soins chirurgicaux de qualit\u00e9.<\/p>\r\n<p>As the Minister of Health for Sierra Leone, I am dedicated to realizing the President&#8217;s vision of investing in people and human capital development. I see my role as focusing on the health aspect as we build our nation, ensuring that our people are healthy and able to achieve their fullest potential as individuals, family members, community and district members, citizens, and contributors to the continent&#8217;s prosperity.<\/p>\r\n<p>Sierra Leone&#8217;s healthcare transformation is a multi-faceted journey that demands collective effort, innovation, and unwavering determination. We are laying the groundwork for a comprehensive healthcare system that meets the diverse needs of our population. Le paysage actuel r\u00e9v\u00e8le une disparit\u00e9 dans les moyens et les comp\u00e9tences en mati\u00e8re de soins de sant\u00e9 au sein de la r\u00e9gion. En encourageant la collaboration et la mise en r\u00e9seau entre les pays, nous pouvons tirer parti des forces et des ressources collectives pour combler ces lacunes plus efficacement.<\/p>\r\n<p>Rem\u00e9dier \u00e0 la grave p\u00e9nurie de chirurgiens dans notre propre pays est une priorit\u00e9, et notre strat\u00e9gie consiste \u00e0 l\u2019aborder sous plusieurs angles. Notre approche premi\u00e8re consiste \u00e0 accro\u00eetre le nombre de chirurgiens et de sp\u00e9cialistes en chirurgie dans tout le pays. Par cons\u00e9quent, nous esp\u00e9rons augmenter consid\u00e9rablement le nombre d\u2019internes. R\u00e9cemment, nous avons ouvert plusieurs nouveaux programmes de r\u00e9sidence et cr\u00e9\u00e9 trois nouvelles \u00e9coles postuniversitaires.<\/p>\r\n<p>Additionally, we acknowledge that top surgeons aren&#8217;t available in every village or community. Therefore, we are looking at ways to supplement the capabilities of community health officers and community offices by providing them with basic surgical training. This training enables them to perform minor surgeries even in remote parts of the country.<\/p>\r\n<p>Dans nos efforts soutenus pour \u00e9voluer au sein de l\u2019environnement complexe des soins de sant\u00e9 en Sierra Leone, mon attention se porte sur le besoin imp\u00e9rieux d\u2019une chirurgie s\u00fbre gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une formation compl\u00e8te. Je me r\u00e9veille tous les matins avec la volont\u00e9 de transformer les soins de sant\u00e9 dans ce pays et je suis heureux d\u2019\u00eatre entour\u00e9 de personnes qui partagent la m\u00eame d\u00e9termination.<\/p>\r\n<p>Il m\u2019arrive d\u2019\u00eatre en col\u00e8re et je pense que la col\u00e8re peut \u00eatre un indicateur de l\u2019inacceptable. Il est aujourd\u2019hui inacceptable dans notre pays de constater un d\u00e9c\u00e8s qui aurait pu \u00eatre \u00e9vit\u00e9. Avec tous les outils dont nous disposons, il est inacceptable de diagnostiquer une infection par le VIH par exemple et de voir cette personne en mourir.<\/p>\r\n<p>I think it&#8217;s important to feel anger towards these issues because it drives action. When you&#8217;re angry, you&#8217;re compelled to do something about it. It&#8217;s not just another baby who died; each one is an individual with the right to live.<\/p>\r\n<p>What we&#8217;re doing now is collaborating with our healthcare workforce throughout the country to instill this mindset that everybody&#8217;s life matters.<\/p>\r\n<p>When somebody walks into a hospital or clinic, there&#8217;s a reason why they don&#8217;t go to the traditional healer. They go to the hospital with the confidence that they will get the care that they need, and that they will find compassionate people there who care about their health. I&#8217;m working with my team to ensure that people feel assured in seeking our assistance.<\/p>\r\n<p>By energizing the populace and fostering strong relationships with service providers and the people they serve, we have the recipe for making dramatic changes in Sierra Leone. We don&#8217;t compare ourselves with any other nation; we&#8217;re competing with ourselves. We set bold and seemingly impossible targets, and we work towards achieving them. It&#8217;s exciting and a real opportunity to make a difference in people&#8217;s lives.<\/p>\r\n<h2>\r\n\t\tEducation, sant\u00e9, et s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire : Les trois piliers du d\u00e9veloppement national\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n\t<p>Comme beaucoup d\u2019autres, notre pays est confront\u00e9 \u00e0 une multitude de d\u00e9fis, mais notre volont\u00e9 ferme est de les relever, en particulier dans les domaines de l\u2019\u00e9ducation, de la sant\u00e9 et de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire, qui sont les piliers fondamentaux du d\u00e9veloppement national.<\/p>\r\n<p>Sierra Leone&#8217;s journey towards a healthier and more prosperous future begins with education. Our healthcare priorities are investing in education to ensure knowledge acquisition and the development of individuals to their full potential.<\/p>\r\n<p>Une population en bonne sant\u00e9 va de pair avec une population \u00e9duqu\u00e9e, ainsi mieux arm\u00e9e pour contribuer au d\u00e9veloppement national, briser le cycle de la pauvret\u00e9 et favoriser une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 construite sur des bases solides.<\/p>\r\n<p>La s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire est le troisi\u00e8me pilier, une population bien nourrie \u00e9tant mieux pourvue pour s\u2019\u00e9panouir physiquement et mentalement.<\/p>\r\n<h2>\r\n\t\t Des partenariats efficaces pour des solutions durables\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n\t<p>Notre collaboration avec des organisations internationales telles que Mercy Ships est essentielle pour fournir des services chirurgicaux et investir dans la formation de nos professionnels de la sant\u00e9. Le d\u00e9vouement in\u00e9branlable de l\u2019ONG au service des soins de sant\u00e9, anim\u00e9e par l\u2019esprit d\u2019\u00e9quipe et la compassion est vraiment digne d\u2019\u00e9loges. Leur mission redonne de l\u2019espoir aux patients et \u00e0 leurs proches, en s\u2019attaquant \u00e0 des d\u00e9fis difficiles \u00e0 surmonter.<\/p>\r\n<p>The investment in training counterparts from nurses and anesthesiologists to technicians and counselors &#8211; to just see how this is done with tender loving care for patients is incredible. Our residents are lining up to go and provide services and training on the ships. Additionally, we are thrilled about the prospect of dental care training and the establishment of a dental school in our country. These initiatives signify a significant step towards building a self-sufficient healthcare system that can thrive long after Mercy Ships&#8217; departure.<\/p>\r\n<p>Additionally, the current gathering \u00a0of the West African College of Surgeons to Sierra Leone in Freetown is a huge milestone, providing an opportunity to showcase our progress and foster collaboration among West African nations. \u00a0We&#8217;re expecting over 700 surgeons from throughout the continent and beyond. They are here to have very candid deliberations on the state of surgeries in Africa and what the future holds for the continent, and where we should be driving our focus.<\/p>\r\n<h2>\r\n\t\tThe Vision for Sierra Leone&#8217;s Healthcare Future\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n\t<p>Looking ahead, the vision for Sierra Leone&#8217;s healthcare future falls into four domains. The first is primary healthcare, emphasizing the importance of taking healthcare as close to the people as possible. Currently, 85% of the population has a health facility within a five-kilometer radius of wherever they are. That&#8217;s incredible in terms of access.<\/p>\r\n<p>What&#8217;s exciting is witnessing the tangible impact of these efforts. We&#8217;re observing significant drops in maternal mortality rates, improvement in immunization rates, and the introduction of new vaccines and practices. Recently, we launched a new malaria vaccine, and just the other day, we introduced a new HPV vaccine as part of our determination to eliminate cervical cancer in the country.<\/p>\r\n<p>Le deuxi\u00e8me domaine concerne le personnel de sant\u00e9, l\u2019accent \u00e9tant mis sur l\u2019augmentation du nombre de professionnels de la sant\u00e9 qualifi\u00e9s, y compris les chirurgiens. Nous avons cr\u00e9\u00e9 une agence nationale de sant\u00e9 publique pour garantir une r\u00e9ponse coordonn\u00e9e aux situations d\u2019urgence. Nous avons des \u00e9pid\u00e9miologistes int\u00e9gr\u00e9s dans nos programmes de base qui surveillent de pr\u00e8s les donn\u00e9es issues de diverses initiatives en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 afin de d\u00e9tecter rapidement toute activit\u00e9 inhabituelle.<\/p>\r\n<p>Pour aller de l\u2019avant, nous sommes r\u00e9solus \u00e0 nous attaquer \u00e0 de nombreux d\u00e9fis, convaincus que l\u2019unit\u00e9 et la r\u00e9silience nous permettront de surmonter tous les obstacles. En nous concentrant sur les besoins essentiels et le d\u00e9veloppement durable, nous sommes pr\u00eats \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un avenir meilleur pour notre nation.<\/p>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a
