Contributing to medical infrastructure is an essential part of Mercy Ships Canada’s work. For example, the Canadian project allows medical waste to be safely handled through existing waste collection systems after processing in Senegal.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBesoin du projet\t<\/h2>\n\t

Les nouveaux convertisseurs de d\u00e9chets transforment automatiquement les d\u00e9chets m\u00e9dicaux en une forme fiable qui peut \u00eatre trait\u00e9e dans le flux des d\u00e9chets m\u00e9nagers. Ils st\u00e9rilisent les d\u00e9chets par une d\u00e9sinfection bas\u00e9e sur la technologie des micro-ondes et ne font pas appel \u00e0 la vapeur \u00e0 haute pression. Cela rend le processus plus s\u00fbr, garantit la neutralisation des mati\u00e8res nocives et s\u2019effectue d\u2019une mani\u00e8re \u00e9cologiquement et \u00e9conomiquement durable. Compte tenu des d\u00e9fis auxquels le monde est confront\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui, notamment le r\u00e9chauffement climatique et le potentiel de propagation de virus dangereux, il s\u2019agit d\u2019une initiative tr\u00e8s importante.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMercy Ships’ Partnerships in Senegal\t<\/h2>\n\t

Mercy Ships Canada est honor\u00e9 de participer \u00e0 l\u2019initiative de Mercy Ships en travaillant en \u00e9troite collaboration avec le Minist\u00e8re de la Sant\u00e9 et de l\u2019Action Sociale et la Direction des Infrastructures, des Equipements et de la Maintenance du gouvernement du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, pour l\u2019achat et l\u2019installation de convertisseurs de d\u00e9chets m\u00e9dicaux dans les \u00e9tablissements de sant\u00e9 \u00e0 travers le S\u00e9n\u00e9gal. L\u2019achat et l\u2019installation de ces convertisseurs de d\u00e9chets font partie d\u2019une initiative nationale visant \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions de carbone et \u00e0 mettre en place un programme durable, fiable et respectueux de l\u2019environnement pour l\u2019\u00e9limination des d\u00e9chets dans le pays.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAper\u00e7u du projet de Mercy Ships Canada\t<\/h2>\n\t

Financial support from Mercy Ships Canada for the medical waste converters helps provide for the purchase of six converters that were installed at additional hospitals and medical centers. This project supports the global Mercy Ships’ initiative to assist in the installation of land-based medical infrastructure that helps the Government of Senegal build capacity to support a stronger, and sustainable healthcare system for their citizens.<\/p>\n

La collaboration de Mercy Ships avec le gouvernement s\u00e9n\u00e9galais permet de r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions et d\u2019assurer une manipulation fiable des d\u00e9chets m\u00e9dicaux dangereux. D\u2019un point de vue environnemental, la technologie de pointe utilis\u00e9e dans les convertisseurs de d\u00e9chets m\u00e9dicaux est de loin pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable aux incin\u00e9rateurs car elle permet aux d\u00e9chets m\u00e9dicaux d\u2019\u00eatre trait\u00e9s en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 par les syst\u00e8mes de collecte de d\u00e9chets existants apr\u00e8s leur traitement.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tImpacts du projet\t<\/h2>\n\t

Les six convertisseurs de d\u00e9chets m\u00e9dicaux et les \u00e9quipements et infrastructures associ\u00e9s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 achet\u00e9s en 2022. Deux des unit\u00e9s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 install\u00e9es et quatre autres devaient l'\u00eatre au printemps 2023, une fois l'alimentation \u00e9lectrique des installations modernis\u00e9e. Une formation sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e pour tous les techniciens impliqu\u00e9s dans la maintenance et l\u2019utilisation des convertisseurs a \u00e9t\u00e9 dispens\u00e9e au d\u00e9but de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 2023.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\"Volunteer\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
