In Sierra Leone – a country with only one pediatric surgeon – that kind of operation is hard to reach. When the Global Mercy<\/i> returned to Freetown, her aunt registered her, and a volunteer surgeon repaired the hernia in a little over an hour. A day later she was back to her playful self.
