Intermittent testing assures the physician, care giver and patient that the medical equipment is safe, performs properly, and provides accurate patient data.<\/p>\n<p>As Mercy Ships International (MSI) equips the <em>Africa Mercy<\/em> for future years of field service and provide the <em>Global Mercy<\/em> with equipment, it is important that MSI perform tests on the medical equipment. Specialized test equipment is needed to effectively maintain and ensure that all the medical equipment is kept to the highest level of performance and reliability.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tAnticipated Project Impacts\t<\/h2>\n\t<p><strong>Long-term indicators of success<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The useful lifetime of the equipment is estimated to be between seven to ten years. The equipment will directly support many of the free surgical procedures provided by the volunteer professionals on the hospital ships in the low resource settings where Mercy Ships serves in
